The Méridiens are fleeing to their far colonies - and they have reason to run. Over the course of decades, they have lost hundreds of ships, billions of people, and seven Confederation colonies to an alien enemy an advancing swarm of silver ships transported in the bowels of a gigantic, spherical vessel.
Alex Racine, who once enjoyed the solitary life of an explorer-tug captain, is now an admiral and responsible for the lives of a quarter million Librans. Further complicating his life, Alex's Librans have made it clear they don't want to settle on his home world. They want a new home, and he must secure them one.
The silver ships await Alex's makeshift flotilla at Libre, the last colony they consumed. Thus far Alex's people have succeeded in skirmishes against the enemy's fighters. Now, though, they're preparing to attack the entire alien fleet and halt the devastation of the colonies.
To the surprise and chagrin of his officers and crew alike, Alex concocts a new plan, for he believes humanity faces not one but two alien species, and one may be enslaved to the other. If so, Alex believes, slaves should be liberated, not obliterated.
To test Alex's theory, his people must capture a wholly intact silver ship - a feat never before accomplished. The crew remains doubtful, but their admiral is determined to communicate with the aliens before he's forced to destroy them, and his wish is their command.
Méridien A Silver Ships Novel Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) S H Jucha Grover Gardner Scott H Jucha Books
I truly wanted to love this book. However, it just kept on and on and on.I read the first 2 books but can't make it through this book.
This book is not reflective of reality, a former "tug boat captain", with no military experience of note is suddenly the premier military mind.
Getting an enemy to come around to your side because you can play music that sings to them? Come on.
The story dragged on and I have to give up. I can't see where it's going.

Méridien A Silver Ships Novel Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) S H Jucha Grover Gardner Scott H Jucha Books Reviews
I consider Silver Ships (Sci-Fi) on the same par as Terry Brooks' Shannara series (Fantasy) except the categories are different. That said, there are interesting overlapping tones between Brooks, Jucha, and Feist. I highly recommend Silver Ships too! -Dr. S.P. Forsythe-Newell.
Written like a perfect fairy tale.
Everything works out and nothing really goes wrong for the super perfect characters. From the lead character and his partners sickly over the top love stuff to events in the storyline.
Where's the bad things happening like in real life, the grunge, the ups and downs?
I don't know how to explain it, but it's not very often a book has made me cringe as many times as this with its perfectness and over loving lead characters.
Stopped reading at 80%
4 1/2 stars. The story continues with the independent Meridians trying to find a home to resettle on, build a new government, address the alien silver ships threatening them, better utilize and interact with ship AI's, and deal with restocking/rebuilding issues with New Terra's antagonistic leaders. Engaging story, even though at times the Admiral/President comes off as a little too genius. Ready for the next installment.
A wonderful book about two distant civilizations and different species meeting for a first time and working to defeat a common enemy and accomplish mutual goals. A question raises for me and is Alex Racine controlled by Julien all this time or Alex has grown to become the leader of a new world. Is Alex being affected by his two implants or his anger leads him to some actions that threat others.
The story behind this series has been interesting. It has a nice bit of uniqueness from what I have read. It suffers from one huge problem. The main character can do no wrong. Everyone loves him, everyone adores him, he alone has the best solutions, he alone has to carry the burden, even the leaders of planets look up to him wishing they were as good as him. The most attractive women don't feel worthy of him.
I am not against a protagonist that has exceptional skills but we need some faults, some weakness. Kirk needed his whole crew to solve the problem. In the silver ships the rest of the characters just push the buttons to make things happen.
Lots of potential but I am not sure I will continue the series.
Spiraling downward in the series. The first book was outstanding, the second continued that trend. This book? Not so much.
Politics. If you enjoy the concepts and light intricacies of establishing a new government you might like this. Sadly there is nothing new. This is supposed to be a synthesis of two societies. Unfortunately, rather than coming up with something new or different the author gives us the same old tired "We need a democracy" plot line. This same type of government which was corrupt and abusive in this series is the one chosen by a group of people whose first contact with that form of government was massively negative; yet this is what they choose? Please. Be creative or don't publish the book and cost me money.
Plot line was very slow and as stated was filled with establishment of government. Details not necessary for our book.
The first book was fascinating. The second was very interesting, interesting enough to make me anxious for this latest one. Unfortunately, the book bogged down in a discussion of governments and details of how one would communicate with another being without a basis in language. Yes I know you start with math and build from there but got a little too much detail. I realize that there are a number of unanswered questions but then discovered that I didn't care if I got the answers.
Yes the characters are developed though that development took place in the first of the series, and the general story is interesting, but I most likely won't reread this book. I did the first two. And I won't list the next one on my wish list.
I truly wanted to love this book. However, it just kept on and on and on.
